The ESPOCH Project

The Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo (ESPOCH) is a public university based in Riobamba, Ecuador. The institution is particularly known for its work in the Andean flanks and neotropical ecosystems, where it advances conservation, biodiversity research, and sustainable land management. Through field-based research and international partnerships, ESPOCH plays a key role in protecting critical habitats while supporting community-driven conservation initiatives.

Through Project DDIPI-004, contributors Jhony F. Cruz Romàn, C. Renato Chàvez Velàsquez, Fausto O. Sarmiento, Josè A. Sànchez-Agudo, Alba M Sinaluisa Pilco, L. Felipe Lema Palaquibay, Daniel Cordova Lliquin, Sidney Eigenman, Chadley Hollas, and Ricardo Hernàndez-Lambrano have been conducting concrete research in the area’s nature and culture to strengthen socio-ecological resilience and promote conservation.
